Be Here Corporation Adds New Realism to CD-ROMs and DVDs By Creating Real-World Immersive Images

Company Introduces New Technology at Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3)

CUPERTINO, Calif., E3 Electronic Entertainment Expo, Booth #814, May 27
/PRNewswire/ -- Be Here Corporation is debuting its fully immersive 360-degree
imaging system to the interactive entertainment industry in Booth #814 at the
1998 Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3), to be held May 28-30 at the Georgia
World Congress Center in Atlanta. With the system, multimedia developers can
easily create exciting real-world environments for CD-ROMs and DVDs, cutting
coding costs and reducing time-to-market for new products.
The system instantly captures fully immersive panoramic images -- called
PanImages(TM) -- in a single shot. There are no seams or tedious post-
processing, allowing developers to quickly and easily create authentic
environments where participants can fully interact and immerse themselves in
stimulating and interactive multimedia adventures. Instead of creating
environments using computer-generated graphics that simulate reality, Be
Here's PanImage technology lets developers use the real thing, capturing an
entire location with the push of a button.
PanImages are ideally suited for all multimedia entertainment applications
including education, dynamic storytelling, virtual tours and adventure gaming.
By placing the viewer in the center of a particular environment, the user gets
a greater sense of location, helping make the interactive entertainment
experience more "real."
Be Here technology speeds up the development process by reducing coding
costs and time-to-market, allowing graphic artists to focus their efforts on
interesting foreground imagery, rather than scenery and other background
images. For example, real-world environments can be captured as instant
PanImage "templates" that can be used as the basis to develop virtual reality
scenes.
"Developers have avoided using other imaging technologies because they
involved costly, time-consuming processes that created impractical large-sized
files," said Thomas DeMeo, Be Here entertainment product manager. "Be Here's
PanImages are ideal for entertainment production since a single image can be
created in just seconds and with a minimal file size, allowing faster access
time and the ability to include more -- and richer -- immersive images on CD-
ROMs and DVDs."
