PHILADELPHIA, May 27 /PRNewswire/ -- At the 6th Annual Song of Equality
Gala, the Urban League of Philadelphia (ULP) will pay tribute to one of
Philadelphia's most treasured music institutions that use their combined
voices to demonstrate the type of unity that serves as an example for us
all -- both on stage and in the community. Join us on Saturday, June 7th at
5:30 pm at the Pennsylvania Convention Center, 12th & Arch Streets as we
honor the 2008 Harmony Award recipient -- The Philadelphia Boys Choir &
Chorale - and enjoy an electrifying performance by stellar R&B singer,

The theme of this year's gala is leadership as we celebrate the 20th
anniversary of the Urban Leadership Forum (ULF) which remains as
Philadelphia's premier leadership development program for African Americans
and other minority leaders. The program has over 500 graduates including
influential alumni Mayor Michael Nutter, Councilwoman Blondell
Reynolds-Brown and Senator Vincent Hughes to name a few. To celebrate this
milestone, we have added two special activities to the gala -- The Affinity
Affair and the ULF Anniversary Reception, each for $55 per person.
The Affinity Affair is a fundraiser hosted by the ULP's affinity groups
-- Urban League Guild and the Urban League Young Professionals. These
affinity groups are extensions of the Urban League, made up of volunteers
who dedicate their time and talent to help build alliances and create
opportunities that foster economic advancement and educational achievement
for African Americans. The ULF Anniversary Reception will give alumni a
chance to reconnect with friends. Attendees of each activity will enjoy
food, dancing and Stephanie Mills in concert.
With a career that spans over 25 years, Stephanie Mills has
distinguished herself as an actress and performer who is as at home on the
Broadway stage as she is in the recording studio. From her chill-inducing
performance of "Home" in the four-time Tony Award-winning production of
"The Wiz" to her soul classics "I Feel Good All Over," "Whatcha Gonna Do
With My Lovin?," and "I Have Learned to Respect the Power of Love,"
Stephanie Mills -- a Grammy Award winning recording artist -- has earned
her place as one of the most memorable voices of our time.
Founded in 1968 by Director Emeritus Dr. Robert G. Hamilton, the
Philadelphia Boys Choir & Chorale provides the finest musical training to
talented boys and men from the Greater Philadelphia area, regardless of
their ethnic, religious or economic backgrounds. Their mission is for each
boy to achieve artistic excellence, strength of character, and
self-discipline through the rehearsal and performance of music. For 40
years, the Choir has represented Philadelphia throughout the world as
