JACKSON, Mich., May 27 /PRNewswire/ -- Daniel J. Malone, a 24-year
utility industry veteran with extensive operational and technical
experience, has been named vice president of energy operations and safety
for Consumers Energy.
In the newly created position, Malone will report to Frank Johnson,
senior vice president of energy operations. Malone will be responsible for
operations services, network services, gas transmission and storage,
employee training and development in energy operations, and safety. His
appointment is effective on June 1.
"Dan has established a record of success as a manager and leader
throughout his career and brings a wealth of experience, expertise and
knowledge to this new position. His addition to the Energy Operations team
will provide even more focus for our ongoing commitment to safety," Johnson
said.
Energy Operations is responsible for operating and maintaining the
electric and natural gas delivery systems that serve the utility's
customers.
Malone recently completed the Harvard Business School Advanced
Management Program. Before entering that program, Malone was the site
business manager for Consumers Energy's J.H. Campbell Generating Complex,
which can generate up to 1,440 megawatts, enough to power a city of a
million people.
Malone joined Consumers Energy in 1984 and held a series of
increasingly responsible positions with the company. He was named director
of engineering for the Palisades nuclear plant in 2000. Malone became the
Palisades general manager in 2001 after the Nuclear Management Company took
over plant operations. He became site vice president in 2003 and later
served as vice president of engineering for Nuclear Management. Malone
rejoined Consumers Energy in 2006 as manager of the Equipment Services
Department and later that year became the Campbell site business manager.
Malone earned a bachelor's degree in environmental science in 1983 from
Purdue University and also holds a nuclear Senior Reactor Operator
certification.
