Industry Luminaries to Deliver Forward-Looking Keynotes at 41st Design Automation Conference

                Intel's Pat Gelsinger to Give Opening Keynote;
Wally Rhines of Mentor Graphics Will Present Thursday's Keynote

BOULDER, Colo., April 5 /PRNewswire/ -- The Design Automation Conference
(DAC), the electronic design automation (EDA) industry's leading event, today
announced that Pat Gelsinger, chief technology officer and senior vice
president of Intel Corp., and Walden (Wally) C. Rhines, Chairman of the EDA
Consortium and chief executive officer (CEO) of Mentor Graphics Corporation,
will deliver the keynote addresses for the 41st annual conference. DAC will
be held June 7-11 at the San Diego Convention Center in San Diego.
On Tuesday, June 8, Pat Gelsinger will deliver the opening keynote address
titled, "Gigascale Integration for Teraops Performance-Challenges,
Opportunities, and New Frontiers." The speech will address the many-faceted
EDA challenges the industry faces to enable unprecedented teraops levels of
performance. In particular, he will discuss how future design automation
tools must comprehend multiple paradigm shifts to deliver the design
technology that can provide unparalleled productivity boost with the
integration of billions of transistors.
On Thursday, June 10, Wally Rhines will present, "EDA Industry Growth-Are
There Enough New Problems to Solve?" discussing how future growth of the EDA
industry can come only from solving new design problems. Fortunately, there
is an abundance of these, and he will examine those most likely to be the
drivers of future industry growth, as well as some less likely, but intriguing
possibilities.
"This year's keynotes promise to be both informative as well as
provocative for all our conference attendees, whether they are designers, tool
developers, managers or industry executives," said Sharad Malik, 41st DAC
general chair. "The forward-looking subjects reflect the resurgence of
confidence in the high-tech industry and will help our attendees drive more
informed business decisions as the industry upturn gains momentum."
Pat Gelsinger joined Intel in 1979, and has more than 20 years of
experience in general management and product development positions. He leads
Intel's Corporate Technology Group, which encompasses many Intel research
activities, including Intel Labs and Intel Research. As CTO, he coordinates
Intel's longer-term research efforts and helps ensure consistency from Intel's
emerging computing, networking and communications products and technologies.
Walden C. Rhines, 57, is CEO and Chairman of the Board of Directors of
Mentor Graphics, a leader in worldwide electronic design automation. Prior to
joining Mentor Graphics, Rhines was executive vice president in charge of
Texas Instruments' Semiconductor Group with responsibility for over $5 billion
of revenue and more than 30,000 people. Dr. Rhines holds a Master of Science
degree and Ph.D. in materials science and engineering from Stanford
University, as well as a Master of Business Administration from Southern
Methodist University.
