(NYSE: FDO) has named Keith M. Gehl to the position of Senior Vice President -
Real Estate and Store Construction, according to an announcement by R. David
Alexander, Jr., President and Chief Operating Officer.
Mr. Gehl most recently served as Executive Vice President of Business
Strategy and Store Development for Food Lion, LLC, a supermarket chain with
locations throughout the southeast and mid-Atlantic regions. Mr. Alexander
stated: "With our rapid store expansion, Family Dollar views Keith's hiring as
a great opportunity to add a key member to our management team in one of our
most critical strategic areas. Keith brings exceptional process management and
planning expertise, gained from 23 years of diverse retail experience in areas
such as internal audit, store operations and real estate. Keith will be a
great addition to what is already a very strong team in Real Estate and
Construction. Reporting to Keith will be Gil LaFare, Senior Vice President-
Real Estate; Clay Teter, Vice President-Real Estate; and Jim Finley,
Divisional Vice President-Store Construction."
