Raytheon Aircraft Delivers First Harvard II Trainers to NATO Flying Training in Canada Program

    WICHITA, Kan., April 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Raytheon Aircraft recently
delivered the first four Harvard II primary training aircraft to the NATO
Flying Training in Canada (NFTC) program.
    Larry Riegert, manager of Fleet Engineering for Bombardier Aerospace -
Defense Services, accepted the trainer at Raytheon Aircraft's Trainer Systems
Division facility at the company's Wichita headquarters. Deliveries of all 24
aircraft will continue through 2000.
    The Harvard II is a modified version of the Beech/Pilatus PC-9 MkII, the
aircraft that won the Joint Primary Aircraft Training System (JPATS) contract.
The U.S. Air Force and U.S. Navy plan to purchase more than 700 aircraft,
named the T-6A Texan II.
    "This first international delivery is an important milestone for the
Trainer Systems Division," said David Riemer, vice president - Government
Business at Raytheon Aircraft. "We are proud to be supporting the NFTC program
in training NATO pilots, and we expect many more international sales during
the life of this program."
    NFTC is a cooperative endeavor between the Canadian government and
industry to train air force pilots. The flying instruction will be provided by
air force instructor pilots from the participating nations while the
Bombardier-led industry team will provide fully serviced aircraft, flight
simulators, a ground-based training system as well as the airfield and
specified support services.
