PORTSMOUTH, R.I., May 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Raytheon Company
(NYSE: RTNA; RTNB) announced today an agreement with DaimlerChrysler Aerospace
(DASA) to produce DASA's TRS-3D/16 radar system. The TRS-3D is a lightweight,
three-dimensional radar ideally suited for the light combatants providing
excellent range for small radar cross-section targets. Raytheon's Naval and
Maritime Integrated Systems (N&MIS) business unit, which is based in
Portsmouth, R.I., will be responsible for the production of the radar.
"This agreement compliments Raytheon's current surface ship radar systems
and enables us to provide a highly capable three-dimensional radar for the
light combatant market, both domestically and internationally," said Dan
Smith, vice president and general manager of N&MIS.
The company plans to build the TRS-3D radar for the Egyptian Fast Missile
Craft program, while several other international opportunities are being
investigated.
