PITTSBURGH, May 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Westinghouse Electric Company
announced the appointment of Rita Bowser to the position of regional vice
president for the Republic of South Africa. (RSA).
In her new position, Dr. Bowser will work closely with RSA government
agencies and other public and private organizations to continue to develop
communications channels and relationships between these organizations and
Westinghouse.
In making Dr. Bowser's announcement, Jim Fici, senior vice president of
Customer Relations & Sales for Westinghouse, said: "South Africa's growing
energy needs have made it an increasingly important region within the
nuclear industry. It is an important time for Westinghouse to have a
dedicated executive presence in this region."
Dr. Bowser begins her new role following completion of successful
strategic project assignments within the Westinghouse Customer 1st program.
Prior to her Customer 1st assignments, she was head of Business Planning &
Strategy for Westinghouse's European Fuel Business. Prior to her assignment
in Europe, Dr. Bowser held positions of President and CEO of two BNFL Inc.
subsidiaries, and formerly served as Superintendent of Radiological
Protection at Rancho Seco Nuclear Plant in California.
Dr. Bowser holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Clarion University,
a Master of Science degree from the Georgia Institute of Technology, and a
Doctorate of Business Administration from the American University of
London. She is a certified community college instructor in Industrial
Safety and a Nationally Registered Radiation Protection Technologist.
In a dual reporting relationship, Dr. Bowser will report directly to
Mr. Fici as well as Westinghouse's business unit senior vice presidents:
Aris Candris (Nuclear Fuel), Dan Lipman (Nuclear Power Plants) and Ric
Perez (Nuclear Services).
In addition, she will work closely with Regis Matzie, senior vice
president and chief technology officer, in his role on the Board of
Directors of PBMR (Pty) Ltd.
Dr. Bowser is currently relocating to Johannesburg, South Africa.
