Worldwide Flight Services Names Executive Chairman and Chief Financial Officer

    FORT WORTH, Texas, May 31 /PRNewswire/ -- Worldwide Flight Services, a
world leader in ground handling services for the aviation industry, announced
today the appointment of Bradley G. Stanius as executive chairman and David F.
Chavenson as chief financial officer.
    Stanius, who is 54, had been president and chief executive officer of
Smarte Carte, Inc., the largest international airport luggage cart and locker
services company.  The appointment is effective immediately.
    Stanius will direct the global operations of Worldwide's businesses and
head the senior management group responsible for implementing the strategic
direction of the company.
    In a statement, Peter Pappas, Chairman and CEO of the company said, "Brad
Stanius is a highly effective and successful executive, and Worldwide Flight
Services is fortunate and pleased that he was willing to join our team.  We
are confident that he will make a very significant contribution."
    Stanius joined Smarte Carte, based in White Bear Lake, Minnesota, in 1992
as director of marketing and public affairs.  He was named president in 1996
and CEO in 1997.  Over the last few years, he guided Smarte Carte through very
successful growth and profitability, substantially expanding the company
worldwide.  He will remain on the Smarte Carte Board of Directors.
    Stanius was the founder, chairman and CEO of Pharmacy Network of
Minnesota, a statewide network of 420 pharmacies.  The company now belongs to
the Minnesota State Pharmaceutical Association.
    Stanius is a former member of the Minnesota House of Representatives.  He
holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Minnesota and completed
graduate studies in marketing, business finance, and accounting.
    Chavenson, 47, has been vice president finance and chief financial officer
for Holly Corporation, a Dallas-based petroleum products company with
$700 million in sales.  He had been brought in by the CEO in 1999 to assist in
the turnaround of the company.  He is an experienced financial executive who
has been involved in managing leveraged companies.
    Pappas added, "We are very pleased that we were able to bring a chief
financial officer of Dave's experience and capabilities into our team."
    Before joining Holly, Chavenson had spent four years with Rutherford-Moran
Oil Corporation of Houston, where he was vice president finance, chief
financial officer, and corporate secretary.
    From 1978 to 1996, Chavenson was with Oryx Energy Company, a $2.4 billion
Dallas corporation with worldwide operations.  He held a number of positions
in financial management and was named treasurer of the company in 1993.
    Chavenson earned a bachelor's degree in economics, magna cum laude, from
Dickinson College and holds an MBA in finance, with honors, from Harvard
Business School.  He is a certified public accountant.
    Worldwide Flight Services, which has been taking aggressive steps to
broaden the scope and geographic reach of its business, recently acquired
Oxford Airport Technical Services.  That move, along with the recent strategic
acquisitions of Miami Aircraft Support and Aerolink International, positions
the company as one of the largest aviation services providers in the industry.
    Worldwide Flight Services currently provides cargo, passenger and ramp
handling, and airport technical services to more than 300 airlines and airport
authorities at 97 locations around the world.
