NEW YORK, May 31 /PRNewswire/ -- Hurricane expert Kerry Emanuel of the
Massachusetts Institute of Technology believes global warming is behind the
increase in number of hurricanes. Fellow researcher Christopher Landsea,
science and operations officer at the National Hurricane Center, disagrees
and instead believes there are natural cycles to hurricanes and that data
linking the increase to global warming is the result of older measuring
techniques. The two will be debating this and other topics related to
hurricane prediction at the Bond Market Association's Insurance and
Risk-Linked Securities conference on June 21 & 22 in New York City.
With hurricane season officially beginning on June 1 and meteorologists
forecasting a strong storm season, this timely and informative two-day
conference will offer a look at the growing disaster-related products
market, which allows insurance companies to spread their risk to the
financial markets.
