Inc. (NYSE: FDO) has named Dorlisa K. Flur to the newly created position of
Senior Vice President - Strategy and Business Development.
In making this announcement, Howard R. Levine, Chairman and Chief
Executive Officer, stated that: "Dorlisa is uniquely qualified for this
position. She has sixteen years of consulting experience, with a major focus
on assisting leading retail companies on issues of strategic positioning and
performance improvement. She is a business strategist known for insightful
problem solving, pragmatic recommendations and focused implementation.
"At Family Dollar, Dorlisa will be responsible for directing the Company's
business strategy so as to enhance our competitive position and performance.
She will address the full range of opportunities we have to profitably grow
our business, including those related to new business development, consumer
insights and strategic market research and marketing and brand positioning.
Dorlisa also will coordinate major projects to insure appropriate linkage with
Company strategy and consistency of project management. In this key new
position, she will report to me."
Dorlisa earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Duke University where she
was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. She also earned a Masters of Business
Administration from the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University. Upon
graduation, Dorlisa began her career with McKinsey & Company, a global
management consulting firm, and subsequently was elected to the firm's
partnership. During her sixteen year career at McKinsey, Dorlisa assumed
increasing responsibilities, including service as co-leader of McKinsey's
Charlotte office for the past three years and as leader of McKinsey's Retail
Practice in the Southeast for the past two years.
