Aureal's A3D Positional Audio Technology Captures Family PC Technology of The Year Award at E3

A3D Technology Present in Other Award-Winning Products at E3 Ceremonies

    FREMONT, Calif., June 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Aureal(TM) Semiconductor Inc.
(OTC Bulletin Board: AURL) today announced that the "Aureal Semiconductor A3D
Sound Processor" won a top award at ceremonies held by Family PC Magazine at
the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) in Atlanta, Georgia. The award was
given in the category of "Best New Technology, Hardware." Family PC editors
recognized Aureal's ground-breaking psychoacoustic technology -- originally
developed for NASA simulations and now available to gamers -- through A3D and
the Aureal Vortex 8820 processor chip.
Another award-winner which includes A3D technology was the Diamond Monster
Sound card, winning for "Best Hardware Breakthrough." Dell Computer's XPS
R400 desktop PC system won for "Best Hardware, High-End System." The Dell
machine includes the Turtle Beach Montego A3D sound card, also using A3D
technology through the use of Aureal's Vortex 8820 sound chip.
"We've seen lots of new technologies in family computing in the last year,
but Aureal's A3D is a technological breakthrough that does what many techs
aspire to do, but fail to deliver on -- it changes the actual computing
experience," said Joe Panepinto, Editor of Family PC. "It's not a tweak to an
old technology, or simple addition or twist to an existing idea, it's a
breakthrough that makes computing more immersive, more fun, and remarkably
different."
"We are honored to be recognized by such an important publication as
Family PC," said Kip Kokinakis, Aureal's CEO. "This award also establishes
Aureal as the undisputed leader in 3D audio technology."
Aureal's cutting edge A3D technology has been the focus of many top-notch
reviews of audio products and entertainment titles. E3 vendors displayed a
multitude of titles which feature A3D positional 3D audio, creating a totally
immersive entertainment experience for gamers.
