May, based in Los Angeles, will be responsible for developing strategies
to ensure the entertainment industry effectively uses PRN's wide array of
global distribution tools to reach consumers, the media and financial
community. He joins PRN from Universal Studios, where he was a marketing
consultant and marketing brand manager.
"The entertainment industry has always understood the importance of
promotion and publicity," said Todd Grossman, PRN's director of special market
sales. "Matthew May has the industry knowledge to make sure that we meet its
needs in the traditional arenas as well as in new media."
According to May, technology has advanced to the point where the
entertainment industry is poised to promote itself efficiently and effectively
through state-of-the-art multimedia tools. While some companies have begun to
take advantage of PRN's tools to create and distribute movie and television
trailers as well as new musical releases, the industry as a whole now is able
to reach their target audiences through these Internet vehicles, he said.
"This is a very exciting time for entertainment. What better promotional
tool is there for the industry than video and audio on the web?" he said. "PR
Newswire's multimedia services will bring these revolutionary tools along with
many other customized products to companies large and small in all areas of
entertainment."
May has more than 12 years of experience promoting the entertainment
industry. At Universal Studios Consumer Products Group, he developed
marketing strategies to promote theatrical, television, home video, music and
retail properties as well as theme parks, including the The Lost World:
Jurassic Park franchise. He previously worked for Twentieth Century Fox
Licensing & Merchandising as a creative services executive, and for ABC
Entertainment as an executive co-production coordinator. May earned a
bachelor's degree in communications at the University of Southern California
in Los Angeles.
