CHELMSFORD, MA USA
Innovative Volume Rendering and 3D Visualization Solution Speeds Time to
Market and Reduces Development Costs for PACS OEMs

ORLANDO, Fla., June 3 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Mercury Computer Systems,
Inc. (NASDAQ: MRCY) announced its innovative software for advanced volume
rendering and 3D visualization for PACS (Picture Archiving and Communications
Systems) OEMS, during the Society for Computer Applications in Radiology
(SCAR) Annual Meeting in Orlando, Florida. The Mercury ExamineRT(TM)
Server/Thin Client provides a centralized, scalable, clustered server
architecture that fits within existing PACS frameworks to seamlessly unite
installed legacy systems across multiple platforms. Enabling a dramatic
increase in 3D workflow speed, the ExamineRT Server/Thin Client also reduces
development costs as well as time to market for PACS OEMs.
"The Mercury ExamineRT Server/Thin Client solution is designed to minimize
reliance on expensive 3D workstations, which add complexity to the existing
PACS workflows," said Marcelo Lima, vice president of Life Sciences, Imaging
and Visualization Solutions, Mercury Computer Systems. "We enable a truly
integrated workflow with existing PCs and notebook computers throughout the
hospital enterprise."
The ExamineRT Server/Thin Client provides full volume rendering and 3D
workstation capabilities on thin clients anywhere in the hospital enterprise,
enabling them to act as fully functional medical workstations. All medical
image data processing and visualization is performed on the server, and the
output, or screens, are streamed to the thin client via a standard network
connection.
Mercury's end-to-end imaging solutions empower today's PACS system
designers, with turnkey applications, embedded software and hardware
components, and professional services that include integration, consulting,
and training. Mercury's products can be customized to OEM requirements,
including branding and custom user interfaces, for a flawless fit to the "look
and feel" of the PACS framework.
Mercury will hold demonstrations of its 3D imaging and visualization
software and systems solutions, including the ExamineRT Server/Thin Client,
Examine RT workstation, VisageRT(TM) Volume Rendering plug-in, and 3D-enabled
digital mammography in cooperation with Massachusetts General Hospital, in
booth #1509 at SCAR June 2-5 in Orlando, Florida. Visit lifesciences.mc.com
