Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan Board of Directors Names Elizabeth R. Haar (Wiesner) to Role as President and CEO of Accident Fund Subsidiary

    LANSING, Mich., June 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Elizabeth R. Haar (Wiesner) was
named to the role of president and CEO of Accident Fund Insurance Company of
America by the Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan board of directors.  Haar
was serving as interim president and CEO since the resignation of James
Epolito in May.  Accident Fund is the workers' compensation subsidiary of the
Michigan Blues.
    Haar previously led Accident Fund's marketing and underwriting operations
as executive vice president and chief business development officer.  Earlier,
as vice president of the company's eMagine strategic planning division, she
led Accident Fund's development of an e-business model and national expansion.
She also served as vice president and chief actuary.
    Haar has more than 18 years of property and casualty insurance experience
including positions at Citizens Insurance Company and Michigan Millers Mutual.
She is a fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society, and a member of The
American Academy of Actuaries.  She earned a bachelor's degree in mathematics
from the University of Michigan.

    Accident Fund was purchased by BCBSM from the State of Michigan in
December 1994 in one of the nation's largest privatizations of a state agency.
Accident Fund is a wholly-owned subsidiary of BCBSM.
