David Jones Resigns From Tyson Board; Company to Begin Search for Another Director

SPRINGDALE, Ark., June 3 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- David A. Jones has
resigned from the board of directors of Tyson Foods, Inc. (NYSE: TSN)
effectively immediately, company officials reported today.
Jones cited increased responsibilities at Spectrum Brands, where he is
chairman and CEO, as the reason for his decision. He has served on the Tyson
board since 2000.
"My responsibilities at Spectrum Brands have become so much more time
consuming ... that I need to significantly reduce my involvement in other
outside business activities," he wrote in his letter of resignation. "Tyson
Foods has made outstanding progress over the past five years, growing into the
largest protein company in the world while nearly quadrupling in size.
Hopefully, I was able to make a small contribution towards this incredible
success."
"We appreciate David's contributions to the board over the past five years
and will miss his leadership and insight," said John Tyson, chairman and CEO
of Tyson Foods. "We will immediately begin the search for a replacement."
Jones was one of five independent directors on Tyson's ten-member board.
The other board members include Lloyd V. Hackley, Jim Kever, Jo Ann R. Smith,
Albert C. Zapanta, Don Tyson, John Tyson, Leland E. Tollett, Barbara A. Tyson
and Richard L. Bond.
