HARTFORD, Conn., June 3 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- United Technologies
Corp. (NYSE: UTX) today raised to $250,000 its contribution to the
International Federation of Red Cross Disaster Relief Emergency Fund, an
increase of $150,000, to assist earthquake victims in southwest China.
"As the magnitude of the destruction caused by the earthquake becomes
clearer, it is apparent that more help is needed," said UTC President and
Chief Executive Officer Louis R. Chenevert. "United Technologies Corp. and
our employees around the world hope our donations will help those affected
by this disaster."
UTC also is sustaining its global matching gift program that doubles
contributions made to China relief efforts by any of UTC's 225,000
employees worldwide. UTC has 295 offices and 14 factories in more than 72
cities in China and Hong Kong.
This latest contribution more than doubles the $100,000 donation that
UTC pledged in the immediate aftermath of the earthquake.
United Technologies, based in Hartford, Conn., is a diversified company
providing high technology products and services to the global aerospace and
