Expanded Ports for More Versatility and Wider Applications
MINNEAPOLIS, June 5 /PRNewswire/ -- GLOBALCOMM '06, McCormick Place,
Chicago, Booth 39031 -- Multi-Tech(R) Systems, Inc., a leading data
communications and telecommunications company based in suburban
Minneapolis, is announcing four and eight port fax servers designed to
simplify and lower the cost of networked faxing. The FaxFinder(TM) fax
servers (Model FF420 - four port, and FF820 - eight port) are turnkey units
that include all the hardware and software necessary for sending and
receiving faxes via a PBX which is connected to a digital communications
line such as a T1 or PRI. By connecting the fax server ports to PBX voice
extensions, incoming and outgoing faxes can be received and transmitted
using attached T1 or PRI channels, creating an efficient and cost-effective
alternative to PC-based systems. The new FaxFinder fax servers are priced
at MSRP of US$1799 for the FF420 and US$2999 for the FF820 .

"These new fax server models share many of the characteristics of our
existing one- and two-port models," states Chip Harleman, Vice President of
Sales and Marketing for Multi-Tech Systems, Inc. "They share the same web
browser interface for easy management, the same receive utilities for
converting and delivering faxes via email, and the same Windows(R) utility
for sending faxes as easily as printing a document. By keeping the
operating characteristics as similar as possible, we have made upgrading
easier, and centralized training and management very straightforward, for
larger companies deploying multiple models at remote locations. By bundling
everything necessary for a complete fax server into one package, we have
made network faxing available to a wider range of companies, including
those without dedicated IT staffs."
Installation of a FaxFinder fax server is as simple as connecting its
ports to available analog station ports of a PBX, connecting a LAN to its
10/100BaseT port, and running a browser on a network PC to configure the
FaxFinder server. When receiving a fax via the PBX, the PBX converts pre-
assigned fax numbers to DTMF signals, and sends them along with the fax to
the FaxFinder server. The FaxFinder converts the fax to a TIFF file, which
is attached to an email and sent to the proper recipient. Send fax
operations can be from any Windows(R) application using the bundled driver
client software for Windows. The FaxFinder fax server supports "Super G3"
ITU V.34 standard fax communications, along with two-dimensional
compression, real-time fax compression conversion, and ECM (Error
Correction Mode).
