Company Cites Solegy's Fast Time-to-Market and Rich Feature Set
NEW YORK, June 5 /PRNewswire/ -- GLOBALCOMM -- Solegy(TM) LLC, a leader
in managed service deployment systems, announced today that its
ServicePDQ(TM) managed VoIP platform was chosen by EarthLink (Nasdaq:
ELNK), the nation's next generation Internet service provider (ISP), as the
basis for the PC-to- phone component of MindSpring(SM), EarthLink's
softphone client that combines Internet voice and instant messaging on a
consumer's PC. ServicePDQ(TM) allows MindSpring users to make calls
directly from their PC to any traditional phone, while enjoying an
unparalleled array of innovative user features.
The ServicePDQ platform, managed for EarthLink by Solegy, gives
MindSpring users access to a Web portal offering convenient, single-click
self- provisioning as well as customer self service. ServicePDQ's SIP
softswitch architecture also supports real-time billing for
MindSpring-originated calls to traditional PSTN (Public Switched Telephone
Network) phone lines.
"Solegy's fully-managed business model helped us launch a feature-rich,
prepaid PC-to-Phone service while meeting an aggressive rollout schedule
for our other Internet voice products," said Tom Hsieh, EarthLink's
director of voice products and engineering. "Solegy offered the features,
flexibility and professional support services that we wanted."
"This relationship highlights the advantages that are available to
service providers who want to deploy a carrier-grade VoIP solution within a
compressed timeframe," said Stu Sleppin, Solegy's president. "Because of
the comprehensive capabilities built into our ServicePDQ platform, we were
able to engineer a solution that met EarthLink's needs, and deliver it to
market in less than three weeks."
MindSpring is EarthLink's PC-to-PC chat application that integrates the
most powerful features of broadband and VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol)
to deliver high-quality calling capabilities, real-time text (instant
messaging) and access to free Web mail. MindSpring users can make PC-to-PC
voice calls for free. Plus, customers using MindSpring's ServicPDQ-enabled
technology can also dial traditional telephone users at greatly reduced
rates.
MindSpring joins EarthLink trueVoice(SM) and EarthLink DSL and Home
Phone Service in the company's suite of VoIP offerings. For more
