Members Recognized by Their Peers for Dedicated Leadership and Service
FLORHAM Park, N.J., June 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Financial Executives
International (FEI), the preeminent association for financial executives,
today announced that Alan Faber of the FEI Boston chapter, Ronald S.
Stowell of the FEI Cincinnati chapter and Gerald "Jerry" Urich of the FEI
Central Pennsylvania chapter were the 2007 recipients of the FEI
Distinguished Service Award. This prestigious award honors volunteer
leaders who have made long-term contributions to FEI's development at the
local or national level. The three honorees were presented with their award
from FEI President and CEO Michael P. Cangemi at the FEI 2007 Summit in May
in Boston, Massachusetts.
FEI's Distinguished Service Award winners were evaluated across four
areas:
-- Holding FEI positions and having a significant record of contribution
-- Representing FEI's goals to the financial community in an exemplary way
-- Launching major initiatives that strengthen national and/or chapter
activities
-- Demonstrating the qualities of a role model and being held in high
esteem by their peers
Commenting on the award, Cangemi said, "The accomplishments of our
organization over the past 76 years can be largely attributed to the hard
work and dedication of our many local chapter members. We are compelled to
recognize three of our dedicated members this year. On behalf of FEI's
Board of Directors, I would like to applaud Mr. Faber, Mr. Stowell and Mr.
Urich on their much deserved honor, and thank them for being a role model
to their peers."
The honorees' involvement with FEI includes:
-- Alan L. Faber served as Vice President of FEI Boston for seven years
and has been an essential contributor to FEI Boston's Nominating,
Professional Development, Career Services, Recruitment & Membership,
Membership Involvement, Partner and Board Resource Committees. An FEI
member since 1993, his pioneering ideas have also been incorporated
into the National FEI Chapter Toolkit. Under Mr. Faber's leadership of
the Career Services Committee, the Boston Chapter experienced its
greatest period of growth. In honor of his many contributions to
chapter governance, continuity and value, a permanent Officer VP
position was created for him.
-- Ronald S. Stowell's involvement with FEI began in 1975 when he was
named the recipient of the Student Recognition Award from the Toledo
Chapter. A member of FEI since 1987, he has provided superior
leadership throughout his tenure as President of the FEI Cincinnati
chapter during the 2000-01 fiscal year. Mr. Stowell has also
demonstrated his tremendous commitment by serving as Vice President,
Programs and on various committees in Cincinnati, and as an active
member in Cleveland over the past two decades. At the national level,
Ron has served as Area Director (North Central Region) and as an active
member on the Pension & Investment Committee, Budget & Finance
Committee, and as an FEI Board Member. Mr. Stowell was committed to
increasing the quality of the Cincinnati Chapter's monthly meetings and
speakers, and strengthened the chapter by initiating, organizing and
developing the successful Chapter Partnership/Sponsorship Program.
-- Jerry Urich has been a member and a dedicated volunteer of the FEI
Central Pennsylvania Chapter since 1997, and has made immeasurable
contributions as Chapter President, Vice President and Director. At
the national level, Mr. Urich currently serves on the Board of
Directors, Executive Committee as Treasurer and is the Chair of the
Pension & Investment and Budget & Finance Committees. Mr. Urich's
effective leadership guided the chapter through a difficult period and,
as a result, the chapter experienced fiscal strength and the highest
membership numbers in chapter history. Through his participation, Jerry
introduced several new programs to the chapter, such as the Local
Partnership Program and the Outstanding Student Award Program.
