PARK RIDGE, N.J., June 8 /PRNewswire/ -- The Hertz Corporation has
launched the Hertz Prestige Collection (HPC), a car rental program combining
luxury cars with premium services at 20 locations in North America. The
program is expected to expand to 40 locations in North America, Europe and
Australia by 2003.
Craig Koch, President and CEO, speaking at an HPC kick-off event at Hertz
Headquarters in Park Ridge, NJ, said, "In the near future we will have well
over 10,000 luxury vehicles in this program and we already have the customer
interest, facilities and employees necessary to make this program a success."
Koch added, "We launched the program on June 1, and already we have
several thousand Prestige Collection reservations, confirming the results of a
successful pilot program we've run for the past 18 months. We expect
continued, strong demand from vacationers, business people, individuals and
families participating in special events in their lives, and car buyers who
want to test drive these vehicles for several days."
Koch also noted that the vehicles in the Prestige Collection will be
provided by Ford's Premiere Automotive Group featuring, initially, Volvo S60,
S80 and the V70 and XC Cross Country Wagons; Lincoln LS and Navigator; Jaguar
S and X types; and the Land Rover Discovery. "The scale of this luxury car
rental program is unprecedented and our customers will be able to reserve a
specific model, which is yet another first for a national car rental company."
Joe Nothwang, Hertz' President of Car Rental for the Americas and Pacific,
added that the Company has targeted major tourist and business markets for the
first phase of the program. "In Phase One we have included Los Angeles, San
Francisco, Orange County, San Diego, Miami, Orlando, Tampa, Ft. Lauderdale,
West Palm Beach, Boston, Chicago, Denver, Dallas, Phoenix, Atlanta, Washington
DC, Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver in the HPC program," he said.
Nothwang added that a number of premium services also distinguish HPC from
other car rental programs. "We have created special phone and internet access
for our Prestige Collection customers to expedite the reservation process. We
will offer free pick up and delivery from suburban hotels and resorts and
these cars will always be in a prominent, convenient location at our airport
locations. Every HPC car will have our NeverLost on-board navigation system
included at no additional charge. Finally, we will have staff dedicated to
make sure Prestige Collection customers are completely comfortable with their
vehicle before they start their journey," he said.
Hertz, a wholly owned subsidiary of Ford Motor Company, is the largest car
rental company in the world, operating from 7000 locations in over
140 countries.
