SAN JOSE, Calif., June 9 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Sunrise Telecom(R)
Incorporated (Nasdaq: SRTI), a leader in testing and monitoring solutions for
voice, video, data and next-generation digital multi-media, today announced
the 10 Gigabit Ethernet Module for its industry-leading Scalable Test Toolkit
(STT) platform, which combines powerful capabilities that rival expensive
laboratory test equipment with the ease-of-use, lower cost and flexibility of
central office and head-end equipment. The STT Ethernet module is fully
compatible with the SunSet Modular Test Toolkit (MTT), which provides field
technicians with the industry's broadest selection of test options needed to
install, verify, and troubleshoot a wide variety of service technologies. The
STT is optimized for next generation central office applications, while the
MTT lighter weight and smaller size make it perfect for the field technician
on the go. Together, these platforms make Sunrise Telecom a leader in the
field, fully addressing the emerging needs of network technicians faced with
installing and maintaining metro and core Ethernet services up to 10 Gbps.
"As 10 Gigabit Ethernet becomes entrenched as the preferred access and
distribution method for high-bandwidth IP-based voice and video services,
network technicians require flexible, easy-to-use, cost-effective testing
solutions," said Cyrille Morelle, director of product marketing for Sunrise
Telecom. "With our STT and MTT platforms network technicians have access to
the best tools to speed deployment and maintain their networks with minimal
disruption. With these solutions, technicians can successfully and quickly
turn up their networks, whether for delivering business Ethernet services,
thickening the core Ethernet transport network, constructing the IP Video
distribution network, troubleshooting ISP/Voice/Video Ethernet service issues
at the customer premises, or similar requirement."
The STT Ethernet module is optimized for fast, efficient turn-ups. Its
clean design eliminates nonessential features found in laboratory solutions
and allows even novice technicians to be fully up-to-speed in less time than
it takes to configure a single port with alternative solutions. In addition,
the STT Ethernet module is the only product that can operate either as a bench
top instrument or as a shelf-mountable network probe.
The STT 10 Gigabit Ethernet module is available in single or dual port
configurations. Each 10GE port is capable of generating and monitoring
traffic at full line rate for both LAN-PHY (10.3125 Gbps) and WAN-PHY
(OC-192c/STM-64c, 9.95328 Gbps) interfaces, tests that are critical to the
rapid and cost-effective deployment of backbone Ethernet services. The STT
Ethernet module supports unframed testing for clear-channel, full bit rate
testing over dark fiber or DWDM networks. In addition, the module can be
configured with up to eight 10/100M ports and two Gigabit Ethernet ports. Dual
or quad Fibre Channel ports for 1.0625 and 2.125 Gbps are also available.
By capturing and decoding data with the STT Ethernet module, technicians
can obtain a clear picture of the actual traffic being transported across the
network. This process is essential for troubleshooting protocols (TCP/IP,
VoIP, etc.), switch and router behavior, and VLAN connections and
configuration, including Q-in-Q pipes. The STT Ethernet can also act as a
network probe, operating in anonymous stand-alone mode and accessed remotely.
The STT Ethernet module supports testing across up to 16 ports
simultaneously and independently. This enables network technicians to test
switches and network configurations not possible in smaller devices, while
maintaining portability and simplicity. A single module can test eight 100M
links combined into a single Gigabit or 10 Gigabit optical link using VLAN
and/or MPLS to differentiate between ports and traffic types.
The STT 10 Gigabit Ethernet module is available immediately and is
shipping to customers across North America, Europe, and Asia.
Sunrise's Scalable Test Toolkit
Designed with flexibility in mind, Sunrise Telecom's Scalable Test Toolkit
is a high-end modular platform supporting a complete suite of testing
capabilities and technologies for the converging global communication market.
Combining the reliability of a real-time operating system with the usability
of Windows, test modules provide comprehensive analysis and monitoring for
SONET/SDH and T-carrier/PDH, Ethernet, fiber physical layer analysis, DWDM and
CWDM, dispersion analysis, PSTN, VoIP and 3G wireless services. Each module
is designed to operate fully as part of an extended test system or as a
stand-alone unit, giving service providers the ability to maximize the
products' use and lower their total cost of ownership for test and analysis
equipment.
