IP-to-RF Edge Processing for Digital Simulcast, MPEG-4 AVC Encoding, and
Forward Error Correction (FEC) Solutions to Be Highlighted
LAKE OSWEGO, Ore., June 9 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Tut Systems Inc.
(Nasdaq: TUTS), a leader in delivering video and data services over broadband
networks, today announced that it will showcase its Astria(R) family of
Digital TV solutions at the Cable-Tec Expo 2005 convention, June 15-17, at the
Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center in San Antonio, TX (booth # 1251).
The company's product and technology demonstrations will include:
IP-to-RF Edge Modulation -- The company will showcase its recently
launched Astria(R) Video Services Processor (VSP), a carrier class IP-to-RF
video edge modulation platform. The Astria VSP provides unparalleled
scalability in a single chassis, enabling telcos and MSOs to utilize IP for
video transport -- converting the IP video streams to RF for last-mile
simulcast delivery of both analog and digital TV programs over FTTP/FTTH and
coax networks.
Real-time MPEG-4 AVC Encoding -- Tut Systems will demonstrate its new
MPEG-4 AVC encoder for its Astria(R) Content Processor (CP) family of
products. Tut's AVC encoder, recently deployed by Farmer's Telephone
Cooperative as the first of its kind, reduces required video compression rates
up to 50% over existing solutions while simultaneously improving overall video
quality.
Forward Error Correction -- Tut Systems will provide Forward Error
Correction (FEC) demonstrations, highlighting the need for and benefits of FEC
in reducing video impairments common to IP transport networks.
