Luna Gold Corp. - Exploration Results from China

    VANCOUVER, June 10 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ - Luna Gold Corp. (TSXV-LGC.U)
("Luna" or the "Company") announces results from the first phase of
exploration on its Chinese exploration properties, Gongguo and Dongchuan.

    Gongguo
    -------

A landsat study was commissioned to assist in identifying targets based
on favourable structures and alteration. The resulting study identified no
obvious alteration zones on the property. The program then focused on
extending the previously identified zones of mineralization. Mapping and
sampling were completed regional to the main showing, Xiaoganqin. This work
identified a number of other parallel zones of weak alteration. A total of
469 chip samples were collected across these zones. Although the highest grade
was 9.15 gpt Au, only 5% of the samples were greater than 0.1 gpt Au and only
1% exceeded 1.0 gpt Au.
Coincident with the regional work, detailed mapping and sampling were
carried out in the immediate vicinity of the Xiaoganqin mine. This program was
designed to test the expansion potential of the Xiaoganqin mineralization.
Although mineralization at surface is continuous over a length greater than
1 km, tunnel KD 4 was the only zone with significant width. The detailed
mapping indicates KD-4 is unique due to the local structure (folding), which
does not appear to be repeated elsewhere.
A decision on the future work will be made upon completion of an internal
geologic report. Numerous other gold showings exist in the area, which
indicates the region still has exploration potential.

    Dongchuan
    ---------

A landsat study focusing on clay alteration and structural interpretation
was completed. The study failed to highlight any zones of alteration on the
JV's ground. This was disappointing, but by itself not critical, as the nearby
Boka deposits do not have an obvious landsat signature either.
Data from previous stream and soil sampling were compiled and
reinterpreted. This led to the identification of some broad, but weak, Au and
As anomalies. Immediately uphill from one such anomaly was a zone of intense
alteration and structural deformation, named Tianba. This zone was mapped and
sampled in detail. From the 120 four meter long channel samples taken at
Tianba only one weakly anomalous gold zone (defined by 5 contiguous samples)
was identified. The other targets, gold-in-soil anomalies, were ground checked
and deemed not to warrant further work.
Luna is reviewing the merits of the Dongchuan JV to determine the best
manner in which to proceed.
