National Institute of Health, National Highway Traffic Safety Administration
and the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office Use BizFlow's BPM Platform to
Standardize Processes and Improve Operations
WASHINGTON and VIENNA, Va., (E-Gov 2003 Conference and Exposition, Booth
#429), June 11 /PRNewswire/ -- HandySoft Corporation, a leading provider of
business process management (BPM) software, today announced a series of three
new business wins among federal government agencies. With most government
procedures driven by laws and regulations, government agencies are looking for
process-based technology solutions to standardize processes and improve
operations. As a result, federal government agencies consider BizFlow(R),
HandySoft's award-winning BPM platform, as a solution for improving
performance while following regulations.
"The federal government's e-Gov initiatives are about going beyond the
first steps in information access to encourage and facilitate interagency IT
programs that eliminate redundancies, decrease paperwork, increase
productivity and save money, all while improving customer service," said Daryn
Walters, vice president of global marketing and strategy at HandySoft.
"That's why we believe that BPM technology, such as HandySoft's BizFlow, is
critical to successful e-government initiatives, as technology must not only
provide easier access to government information, but it must automate critical
government processes and institutionalize best practices across government
agencies to meet its objective."
A recent report issued by the e-Government Program Office's Chief
Information Officer states, "Expanding Electronic Government (e-Gov) is one of
the five key elements in the President's management agenda." There are a
total of 25 initiatives aimed at significantly improving productivity and
performance improvement across the federal government. In addition, the study
indicated that a government task force has been identified and empowered with
automating processes to reduce costs internally within the federal government,
then disseminating best practices across agencies.
HandySoft has years of experience helping government agencies meet their
e-Gov initiatives. The growing list of clients using BizFlow include the
National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the National Institute
of Health (NIH), the National Institute for Standards and Technology (NIST),
the U.S. Patent and Trade Office (USPTO).
The USPTO is using BizFlow to convert its manual, paper intensive file
system into an electronic file system complete with business rules and
validation. In addition, NHTSA, part of the Department of Transportation, is
using BizFlow to automate its training request process as part of its
e-Administration initiatives.
More recently, the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases
(NIAID), at NIH, is using BizFlow as the workflow platform for its e-Grant
solution. When fully implemented, BizFlow will integrate all electronic
information resources required to perform the activities of portfolio
management and capture application and award information at a finer level of
detail than currently possible. BizFlow provides NIAID with the means to
effectively manage research grants subject to stringent legal, ethical and
scientific requirements in addition to supporting the Institutes' training and
collaborative work initiatives.
