Survey measures monitors' relationships with clinical investigators
RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C., June 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Quintiles
Transnational Corp. today announced that clinical investigators rate
Quintiles' clinical trial monitors as the best in the industry, according
to a recent survey.
The survey, blinded and conducted by a third party, asked clinical
investigators to rate their experience with the clinical trial monitors of
Quintiles and eight other Clinical Research Organizations (CROs). The
monitors were rated on nine attributes, including effective communication,
level of training, ability to adapt, organizational skills and therapeutic
expertise. Quintiles' monitors were rated in the top three for each of the
nine attributes and were best in class in five of the nine. The nearest
competitor was rated in the top three for five of the attributes and best
in class in three.
"Good relationships with investigators lead to better interaction and
reduce the time needed to complete trials," said Jamie Macdonald,
Quintiles' Vice President, Early Development, and Head of North America
Clinical Operations. "That's good for our customers and for patients,
because it helps get medicines to the market sooner."
The survey also found that nearly 90% of investigators are satisfied
with the monitors' level of training. "We've put a lot of emphasis on the
training of clinical trial monitors," Macdonald said, "and we're pleased
that those efforts have helped establish strong relationships with
investigators."
A third-party research company interviewed 291 clinical investigators
across the U.S. from December 2006 to January 2007. Investigators rated
only those monitors with whom they had worked in the last 18 months. On
average, investigators had worked with four different CROs in the last 18
months. For source data, please refer to http://www.quintiles.com/results.
