Minnesota High Tech Association Releases Top 10 Technology Occupations Study

            Announcement at Computer Science Education Conference

    EAGAN, Minn., April 12 /PRNewswire/ -- The Minnesota High Tech Association
(MHTA) will release the results of its job analysis study involving the ten
most in-demand Information/Technology (IT) jobs in Minnesota. The study
results will be the focus of the second annual cSci Forum at the Radisson
South Conference Center this Friday, April 14.

     The jobs include:
     -- Database Administrator
     -- Network Administrator
     -- Programmer Analyst
     -- Quality Assurance Engineer
     -- Software Engineer
     -- Technical Communications
     -- Technical Sales
     -- Technical Support/Help Desk
     -- Telecommunications Specialist
     -- Webmaster

    The job analysis identifies the essential activities that are required to
function in each of the ten occupations and the human competencies that are
needed to succeed. The study provides market and industry trend information to
IT career seekers looking to increase their marketability. Additionally, it
provides educators with the pertinent information to enhance their programs
with relevant and accurate training skills to better match industry needs.
    The Minnesota Department of Economic Security and the Corporate Training
and Assessment Center, a Division of St. Paul Technical College, conducted the
research for the MHTA.
    The cSci Forum is a conference for post-secondary IT instructors,
sponsored by the MHTA, Minnesota State Colleges and Universities (MnSCU), and
St. Thomas University.
    The Minnesota High Tech Association (MHTA) is the largest technology trade
