ACG Honors SDL with 'Emerging Growth Company' Award

SAN JOSE, Calif., June 13 /PRNewswire/ -- SDL, Inc. (Nasdaq: SDLI). The
Silicon Valley Chapter of the Association for Corporate Growth (ACG) honored
SDL with the chapter's Thirteenth Annual Emerging Growth Company Award. The
Emerging Growth Company Award recognizes a company with distinctive strategic
positioning and superior growth, dynamic evolving CEO leadership, and sharply
focused organization. Past winners include Yahoo! Inc., Linear Technology,
Adaptec, Cisco, Adobe Systems, and Oracle. ACG's fact sheet noted that SDL
has been selected for its "extraordinary track record of revenue growth and
profitability, enthusiastic reception by investors, and a management team with
dedication to the company culture and policies that lead to continuing
corporate growth."
SDL, Inc. is a world leader in providing solutions for optical
communications and related markets. Since going public in 1995, SDL has,
through significant infrastructure investments and corporate acquisitions,
expanded and diversified its core competencies, international presence and
manufacturing capacity. SDL's ability to meet the demands of the rapidly
growing Internet, terrestrial long-haul and undersea communications markets
has led to its significant growth. Revenues of $187 million in 1999, a
66 percent growth from the prior year, enabled the company to increase net
earnings by a substantial 219 percent to $25.2 million or $0.74 per share
compared to 1998's $0.26 per share. These results include acquisition related
expenses.
SDL is headquartered in San Jose, California and maintains wholly-owned
subsidiaries in New Jersey and Ohio in the U.S., in British Columbia, Canada,
and in Witham and Bracknell in the U.K.
