amaxa biosystems focuses on the development and the marketing of
innovative gene transfer technologies. One of amaxa's key competencies is the
non-viral gene transfer directly into the nucleus of primary cells and cell
lines by Nucleofector(TM) technology. This provides a rapid target gene
validation, accelerates the development of medical drugs and offers new
application for gene therapy. amaxa is a German biotech company based in
Cologne and founded in 1998. The company employs about 50 people.
Nucleofector(TM) technology:
amaxa provides the first highly efficient non-viral gene transfer method
for primary cells and for other hard-to-transfect cell lines.
Nucleofector(TM) technology guarantees unprecendented gene transfer
efficiencies for a non-viral method. What makes the Nucleofector(TM)
technology unique is its ability to directly transfer the DNA into the cell's
nucleus, i.e. nucleofect the cells, independent of cell division.
