ATLANTA, June 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Powell, Goldstein, Frazer & Murphy LLP
announced today that partner W. Scott Sorrels was appointed as the Area
President of the Southern Region of the Boy Scouts of America (BSA). He was
sworn into office at a recent national meeting of the BSA held in Chicago.
Mr. Sorrels is a member of the Firm's Securities, Corporate and Financial
Institutions practice group where he practices in the areas of internal and
government investigations and litigation involving federal and state agencies
regulating the securities and banking industries, as well as the defense of
class action and derivative proceedings, officer and director liability
issues, and corporate control disputes.
The Southern Region of the Boy Scouts of America covers 13 states from
Virginia to Texas. Area 6 covers 10 councils located in Georgia, Tennessee,
Kentucky and Mississippi. Area 6 serves more than sixty thousand youth
through more than 2600 cub packs, scout troops, and venture crews. Mr.
Sorrels has served on the Regional Executive Board, Southern Region, and in
his new role, now serves on the Executive Committee of the Regional Board. He
also has roles in the Atlanta Area Council and the Northeast Georgia Council
of the BSA.
Scott is a member of the Board of Partners with the Firm and serves as the
Firm's Marketing Partner. He holds a J.D., cum laude, from the University of
College of Law and a B.B.A. from Mercer University. He was a member of the
2000-01 class of Leadership Atlanta.
