DENVER, June 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Great-West Life & Annuity Insurance
Company today announced new online services for its 401(k) customers.
Effective immediately, Great-West Life customers will be able to check their
personal 401(k) account balances, redirect future contributions, and transfer
existing funds at any time through the convenience of their computers by
dialing into Great-West's Internet site at http://www.gwla.com/benefits.
"We view the Internet as an important service technology vehicle for our
customers," said Mark Hackl, vice president of Great-West's 401(k) operations.
"Through our Web site, we can offer customers immediate access to their 401(k)
account information. This is especially important in today's market, because
as the market moves up or down, consumers are interested in seeing what effect
it has on their retirement savings accounts."
Great-West was one of the first in the industry to offer customers daily
account valuation through its 24-hour automated phone service. "We view our
Internet account management system as the next generation of value-added
service for our customers," Hackl added.
"Concern over the future of Social Security has drawn attention to the
need for individual responsibility in planning for personal financial
retirement security. This Web-based service allows individuals to more easily
monitor and manage their own funds. Because individuals have different
financial goals throughout their lives, we offer 35 different investment
options to meet the lifestyle needs of our customers," Hackl noted.
Great-West is a leader in providing employee benefits for small- and
medium-sized corporations, and in meeting the retirement income needs of
employees in the public/non-profit sector. Great-West has 1.7 million members
in its health plans and administers pension plans for over 1 million
participants nationwide. In 1997, the company reported premium income of
$6.1 billion and total assets of $22.1 billion.
