In Addition to Delivering Voice and Data Services to Businesses, the
MEA Platform Is Ideally Suited for the Cellular Backhaul Market

SAN ANTONIO, Texas, June 15 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Motorola, Inc.,
(NYSE: MOT) today announced the expansion of its family of access products
that enable broadband network operators to provide services to enterprise
customers. The new Motorola MEA-120G provides increased bandwidth and remote
management capabilities for operators looking to deliver voice and high-speed
data services to commercial environments.
The announcement was made at the SCTE Cable-Tec Expo, 14-17 June 2005 at
the Henry B. Gonzales Convention Center, where Motorola is displaying the new
MEA-120G at Booth #6086.
The new Motorola MEA-120G combines TDM telephony and Ethernet high-speed
data onto a gigabit transport network. This integrated solution enables
operators to offer reliable T1/E1 voice and gigabit data services, with less
than 50ms network recovery time. The rack-mountable unit also enables local
configuration and management through a craft interface, as well as remote
administration through a Motorola MEA-240H chassis, located at another
facility.
Providing reliable backhaul services is crucial for wireless and wireline
customers. The Motorola MEA platform provides MSOs with a solution that
protects the quality of service that operators and their customers will
demand. In addition, the MEA provides the transition from TDM interfaces
today to the IP interfaces of tomorrow.
Now with three models, the MEA platform complements Motorola's
Multiservice Broadband Transport (MBT) platform, enabling Motorola to provide
complete solutions for multiple network topologies (such as Star, Ring, and
Ring/Star); multiple applications (data only, data and TDM, and TDM only); and
multiple deployment locations (multi-tenant and single tenant).
In addition to the new MEA-120G, the Motorola MEA family also includes the
following models:

    MEA-240H - a high-density rack-mounted modular 5 RU chassis for use at a
headend, hub, or central office. The MEA-240H chassis can support up to 16
modules, allowing operators to provide up to 64 T1/E1 and 16 Ethernet
connections per chassis.

    MEA-120F - a shelf or wall-mounted chassis used at the end-user locations
that require 4 T1/E1 plus single 100 Mbps Ethernet interfaces. The MEA-120F
supports a Star topology and has the facility to provide path protection with
the insertion of an additional SFP optical module.

"Operators have an excellent market opportunity to provide aggregated TDM
telephony, such as T1 and E1, to enterprise customers," said Steve Bullock,
General Manager, Broadband Access Networks, Motorola Connected Home Solutions
business. "The Motorola MEA family goes beyond the capabilities of existing
solutions to deliver enterprise-class voice and high-speed data services on a
single gigabit transport network. In addition, the MEA-120G can open new
revenue streams for operators by enabling cellular backhaul applications
through TDM/Ethernet."
