ATLANTA, June 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Today Hooters of America announced
that it is prepared to reimburse FEMA for the cost of a $200 bottle of Dom
Perignon Champagne that was purchased with government funds at a San
Antonio Hooters during the Hurricane Katrina relief efforts conducted by
the Federal Agency. The purchase was discovered as part of an investigation
by the GAO into improper spending of over a billion dollars by supposed
victims and has been highly publicized in various news stories about the
investigation following yesterday's Congressional hearing on the matter.
Hooters of America Chairman Bob Brooks said, "It bothers me as an
American that resources that were intended to help victims of this
tremendous tragedy were spent this way. Even if it's in my restaurants it's
still not right. If FEMA will let me know where to send the check I'll get
the $200 out right away. FEMA has a lot of great folks working down there
and my heart goes out to the people affected by the hurricane. I would love
to give them some free Dom if that will make them happy."
Following Katrina Mr. Brooks sent one of his orange and white Hooters
Air 737s loaded with supplies into the disaster area. The popular
Restaurant chain also made a donation of $225,000 to the Red Cross Katrina
relief fund. "I want to help make the situation down there better not
profit from it. Lord knows there are people who need that $200 more than I
do," stated Brooks.
Hooters of America, Inc. is the franchisor and operator of over 430

involved with charities and organizations nationwide through HOO.C.E.F, the
Hooters Community Endowment Fund. The fund was started in 1992 and has
raised and contributed over 8 million dollars to major non-profit

Research, American Diabetes Association, Special Olympics, Muscular
Dystrophy Association and the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation.
