WESTPORT, Conn., June 16 /PRNewswire/ -- IMS HEALTH (NYSE: RX), which will
become an independent, public company when it is spun off from Cognizant
Corporation on July 1, 1998, today announced the members of its board of
directors.
Victoria R. Fash, president and chief operating officer of IMS HEALTH, was
elected as an IMS HEALTH director. Other members of the IMS HEALTH board
currently serve as directors of Cognizant Corporation. They are:
Clifford L. Alexander, Jr., president, Alexander & Associates, Inc.; John P.
Imlay, Jr., chairman, Imlay Investments, Inc.; Robert Kamerschen, chairman and
chief executive officer, ADVO, Inc.; Robert J. Lanigan, limited partner,
Palladium Equity Partners; M. Bernard Puckett, private investor; H. Eugene
Lockhart, president, Retail Banking Division, BankAmerica Corporation; William
C. Van Faasen, president and chief executive officer, Blue Cross and Blue
Shield of Massachusetts; and Robert E. Weissman, Cognizant chairman and chief
executive officer.
Victoria R. Fash
Victoria R. Fash, 47, Cognizant executive vice president and chief
financial officer since 1996, serves as president and chief operating officer
of IMS HEALTH. As senior vice president--business strategy of The Dun &
Bradstreet Corporation in 1995, she played a key role in the strategic
restructuring of D&B which created Cognizant. Ms. Fash was named D&B's vice
president of business operations planning in 1994, joining D&B when it
acquired Management Science America in 1989. She is a director of Orion
Capital Corporation; Ligand Pharmaceuticals, Incorporated; and Cognizant
Technology Solutions.
Clifford L. Alexander, Jr.
Since 1981, Clifford L. Alexander, Jr., 64, has served as president of
Alexander & Associates, Inc., a Washington, DC-based consulting firm
specializing in workforce inclusiveness. He is a director of The Dun &
Bradstreet Corporation; MCI Communications Corporation; Dreyfus Third Century
Fund; Dreyfus General Family of Funds; Dreyfus Premier Family of Funds; Mutual
of America Life Insurance Company; American Home Products Corp.; and TLC
Beatrice International Holdings, Inc.
John P. Imlay, Jr.
John P. Imlay, Jr., 61, chairman of Imlay Investments, Inc., served as
chairman of Dun & Bradstreet Software Services, Inc., from 1990 to 1996.
Previously, he was chairman of Management Science America from 1971 until its
acquisition by Dun & Bradstreet. He is a director of Gartner Group, Inc. and
Metromedia International Group.
Robert Kamerschen
Robert Kamerschen, 62, has served as chairman and chief executive officer
of ADVO, Inc. since 1988. Previously, he was president and chief executive
officer of RKO/Six Flags Entertainment Incorporated for one year, and from
1984 to 1987, was president and chief operating officer of Marketing
Corporation of America. He is a director of ADVO, Inc. and Micrografx, Inc.
Robert J. Lanigan
Robert J. Lanigan, 69, is a limited partner of Palladium Equity Partners,
a New York City-based private investment firm, and has been chairman emeritus
of Owens-Illinois, Inc. since 1992. He was chairman and chief executive
officer of Owens-Illinois from 1984 to 1990, and was chairman of the board
from 1990 to 1991. Mr. Lanigan is a director of The Dun & Bradstreet
Corporation; Owens-Illinois, Inc.; Transocean Offshore Inc.; Sonat, Inc.; and
Chrysler Corporation.
H. Eugene Lockhart
Since 1997, H. Eugene Lockhart, 48, has served as president, Retail
Banking Division of BankAmerica Corporation. He was president and chief
executive officer of MasterCard International Inc. from 1994 to 1997, and was
executive vice president of First Manhattan Consulting Group from 1992 to
1994. Earlier, he served for seven years as chief executive officer of UK
Banking and Group Operations for Midland Bank plc in London. He is a director
of Niagara Mohawk Power Corp. and RJR Nabisco Holdings Corp.
M. Bernard Puckett
M. Bernard Puckett, 53, a private investor, served as president and chief
executive officer of Mobile Telecommunications Technologies Corp. from 1995 to
1996, and was president and chief operating officer of that company from 1994
to 1995. Previously, he was with IBM Corporation for 26 years, rising to the
position of senior vice president -- corporate strategy and development. He
is a director of P-Com, Inc.; R. R. Donnelley & Sons Company; Oacis HealthCare
Holdings Corp.; and Nielsen Media Research, Inc.
William C. Van Faasen
William C. Van Faasen, 49, has served as president and chief executive
officer of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Massachusetts since 1992, and joined
that company in 1990 as executive vice president and chief operating officer.
Previously, he was senior vice president of operational services at Blue Cross
and Blue Shield of Michigan, where he served in various operational, marketing
and healthcare affairs capacities over a 20-year period. He is a director of
BankBoston Corporation.
Robert E. Weissman
Robert E. Weissman, 58, serves as chairman and chief executive officer of
IMS HEALTH. Since 1996, he has been chairman and chief executive officer of
Cognizant. Mr. Weissman was elected chairman and chief executive officer of
The Dun & Bradstreet Corporation in 1995, having served as D&B's president and
chief executive officer since 1994. He was president and chief operating
officer of Dun & Bradstreet from 1985 to 1994, and was appointed executive
vice president of the company in 1980. Mr. Weissman is a director of State
Street Boston Corporation; Gartner Group, Inc.; and Nielsen Media Research.
