UK Company to Supply Multiple Military Air Traffic Control Radar Systems
HARLOW, England, June 17 /PRNewswire/ --
Raytheon Systems Limited (RSL) has won a contract from Lockheed Martin Ocean,
Radar and Sensor Systems, Syracuse, New York, to supply 16 Monopulse Secondary
Surveillance Radar (MSSR) systems for military air traffic control.
The contract is valued at over $6 million.
The systems will be supplied to various nations throughout Europe and the
Far East who, between them, require widely differing configurations for this
equipment. The requirements include MSSR with Military Mode 4, Mode S, and
Mode S Mode 4 performance in single and dual channel configurations. A total
of 20 channels is being called for: 12 single channel and four dual channel
systems.
All the systems will be co-located with the Lockheed Martin 3D radars in
fixed and transportable configurations. All site works including installation
and commissioning will be conducted by Lockheed Martin with support from RSL
as required.
RSL was selected as a result of its ability to meet Lockheed Martin's
delivery requirement for 2002 (18 of the 20 channels). RSL is able to meet
the aggressive delivery schedule by utilising Commercial Off The Shelf (COTS)
equipment. RSL is one of the few companies which holds the coveted Lockheed
Martin STAR award, for meeting stringent performance criteria, which includes
delivery and quality.
Mick Reeve, RSL's ATC Business Executive, said, "We are delighted to have
had the opportunity to demonstrate our capabilities to Lockheed Martin once
again and to win this major contract. We are working to a tight schedule and
are hopeful that the successful completion of this order will lead to further
business in the future."
RSL, a pioneer in secondary surveillance radar technology, has been a
major supplier of MSSR's to both civil and military air traffic control
authorities in 40 countries. The end users in this latest contract will add
to that figure.

commercial markets. The company is a major supplier to the UK Ministry of
Defence and has won programmes such as ASTOR (Airborne Stand-Off Radar) and
