Amphora Discovery Corp. is a newly-formed drug discovery company whose aim
is to improve the drug discovery and development process and generate high
quality drug candidates across important classes of therapeutic targets.
Amphora is leveraging its know-how and exclusive technology rights in
microfluidics to generate and commercialize a knowledge base of chemical
genomics information of unprecedented quality and scale. The chemical
genomics knowledge base, which will detail the interactions of small molecules
against a broad array of biological targets, will include data on potency,
specificity, drug absorption, metabolism, toxicology and physical properties
of individual molecules. The information will be instrumental in preclinical
drug discovery, acceleration of target validation, lead identification and
medicinal chemistry, as well as in increasing the success rate of drugs
through clinical development. Utilization of information of this quality and
breadth will revolutionize the drug discovery process, shortening the period
from biology discovery to useful medicine and enabling the development of
better drugs, faster and more economically.
Amphora plans to provide this information on a strategic and collaborative
basis directly to pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies involved in
preclinical and clinical research in life sciences. Amphora anticipates
industrializing screening on an unprecedented scale, not previously
contemplated, utilizing Caliper Technologies Corp.'s LabChip high throughput
screening systems to create, build and expand its chemical genomics Knowledge
Sets. Amphora has the exclusive rights from Caliper to utilize this enabling
technology for these purposes.
