PHILADELPHIA, June 18 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- The CIGNA company
Intracorp has earned Full Accreditation from URAC in recognition of the
quality of the health care case management and utilization management
programs provided to CIGNA HealthCare members, CIGNA Pharmacy Management
members and to individuals served through CareAllies programs.
URAC's accreditation -- a highly sought, nationally recognized symbol
of excellence -- recognizes CIGNA's commitment to meet and exceed industry
quality improvement standards.
The accreditation process includes an extensive review of an
organization's programs and operations. "By applying for and receiving URAC
accreditation, Intracorp has demonstrated its commitment to quality
healthcare," said Alan P. Spielman, URAC's president and chief executive
officer.
Through CIGNA's Intracorp case management programs, members facing
health challenges such as cancer, a transplant, diabetes, and complicated
pregnancy receive coaching and support on how they can get the most from
their medical care and benefits. A case manager serves as a single point of
contact and as an advocate for members in the programs. CIGNA HealthCare's
utilization management program, a part of Intracorp, reviews clinical
appropriateness of health care services for members.
"We continually seek external, independent reviews of our programs and
services, and are pleased that URAC has recognized the quality of our
medical case management and utilization management programs," said Leslie
Campbell, CIGNA's vice president of quality management. "This full
accreditation affirms to our members, and to the providers with whom we
work, that we have the policies, procedures and clinical staff in place to
effectively aid members on the road to their own best health."
