SAN DIEGO, June 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Expanding performance options for
mobile clients, Gateway (NYSE: GTW) today announced increased processing power
for the Solo 9300 portable PC. Maximizing system processing speed and
computing time, Intel's Pentium III 750MHZ processor with SpeedStep technology
is now available on all Solo 9300 business models featuring 15-inch or
15.7-inch displays. The processor will be available on consumer models on
June 26.
The new Intel(R) processor provides clients with desktop-class performance
in a portable system. With Intel's SpeedStep technology, users can scale
system performance and battery consumption to meet their working conditions.
While functioning on battery power, SpeedStep enables the system to operate at
a lower clock speed, consuming less power and maximizing battery life. When
running on AC power the system automatically adjusts its configuration to
provide maximum performance.
"Gateway continues to offer our clients advanced mobile technology that
has a positive impact on the computing experience," said Mike Stinson,
director of product marketing, Gateway Business. "The Intel Pentium III
750MHz processor provides the desktop-equivalent performance desired by mobile
power users in a portable design."
Powerful Functionality for a Variety of Business and Home Applications
Intel's new Pentium III 750MHz processor expands the performance and
flexibility of the Solo 9300, enhancing data- and content-intensive
applications such as graphic design, spreadsheet computation, database
sorting, Internet site development and browsing complex Web pages. It also
features a wide range of performance and expansion capabilities, including a
powerful combination of technologies ideal for multimedia applications. It
features the industry's largest display at 15.7-inches display, advanced
graphics with an ATI 2X AGP 3D graphics accelerator with 8MB of SDRAM, Dolby
Digital(TM)/AC-3 sound output and a DVD/MPEG-2 software decoder.
