Integration allows service providers and carriers to realize the full
potential of B2B and B2C digital content services
LONG BEACH, Calif., Streaming Media West, June 19 /PRNewswire/ --
InfoLibria, Inc., a leading provider of Internet infrastructure solutions for
content delivery networks (CDNs), today announced an alliance with Portal
Software (Nasdaq: PRSF) to integrate Portal's Infranet customer management and
billing platform with the InfoLibria Content Operating System(TM) (COS(TM)),
an open software platform that enables the connection and management of the
company's static and streaming products and technology. The integration will
give service providers and carriers a comprehensive media distribution and
billing solution.
With the InfoLibria COS, service providers and carriers can easily and
cost-effectively scale their networks to accommodate growing user communities
and rising demand for superior-quality streaming media applications, such as
pay-per-view, video-on-demand and distance learning. With the integration of
Infranet and InfoLibria's COS, network operators can augment subscription-
based pricing plans with usage-based and value-based pricing models using
aggregated customer log information such as bandwidth usage, type of content,
or number of tracks. They will also have the ability to efficiently manage
the delivery of rich content, rapidly introduce new services, optimize their
business models, manage customers, and efficiently collect and remit money to
content providers and channel partners.
"Our customers are using InfoLibria's technology to develop content
delivery networks that provide a television-quality experience over the
Internet," said Ian Yates, president and CEO of InfoLibria, Inc. "By
integrating our solution with Portal's Infranet, we are providing our service
provider and carrier customers with an easy way to track and aggregate account
and billing information that is critical to sustain their fee-based business
models."
"Portal Software's Infranet platform is a natural complement to
InfoLibria's innovative streaming media delivery and content management
solutions," said John Janetos, director of strategic alliances at Portal
Software. "Portal Software is committed to providing its customers with a
flexible, open customer management and billing platform that supports rapidly
evolving business models for streaming media services such as pay-per-view
Webcasts and subscription-based video-on-demand."
The joint solution will be demonstrated in the InfoLibria booth (#735) at
the Streaming Media West show in Long Beach, June 20-22, 2001.
