Helen Darling, President of the Washington Business Group on Health, to Speak
MILWAUKEE, June 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Fortis Health and MRA -- The Management
Association, Inc. are sponsoring an interactive presentation entitled,
"Controlling Healthcare Costs: A Strategy for Employers," on Wednesday,
June 26 from 5-7 p.m., at MRA, in Waukesha, Wis. Helen Darling, President of
the Washington Business Group on Health (WBGH), will share insights about the
most effective, practical and sustainable solutions for controlling healthcare
costs.
"As a leading health insurance company and large employer, Fortis Health
is concerned about rising healthcare costs and providing solutions to
employers," Ben Cutler, President and CEO of Fortis Health, and board member
of WBGH. "This presentation will offer valuable insight into steps that major
Milwaukee companies can take to manage their healthcare costs."
"MRA is pleased to share this valuable information with our members," said
Vicki Vought, Vice President of Employee Relations Services for MRA. "Helen
and her group are leading a very important cause that can have significant
impact on employers."
In her presentation, Darling will address the reasons why healthcare costs
are increasing, strategic and tactical changes needed, employee principles to
consider when making a change in healthcare insurance and partnerships between
employers and healthcare providers.
"Between the struggling economy, global competition and corporate earnings
shortfalls, American companies cannot afford to pay for the kinds of cost
increases they are being quoted. We have an unsustainable business model in
health care. We have to find new solutions and new resolve to reduce cost
increases," Darling said.
While Darling's focus will be on businesses with 500 or more employees,
the solutions discussed are applicable to companies of all sizes. Darling
leads the Washington Business Group on Health ( http://www.wbgh.com ), the nation's
only non-profit organization devoted exclusively to providing practical
solutions to its members' healthcare problems and representing large
employers' perspectives on national health policy issues.
Pre-registration is required for the event. For more information contact
