Hypertension Diagnostics to Demonstrate CVProfilor(R) DO-2020 System at The Pri-Med Midwest Meeting in Illinois

    ST. PAUL, Minn., June 20 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ --
Hypertension Diagnostics, Inc. (Nasdaq: HDII) announced today that it is
demonstrating its FDA-cleared CVProfilor(R) DO-2020 CardioVascular Profiling
System at the Pri-Med Midwest Conference, June 20-22, 2002, in Rosemont,
Illinois. Pri-Med is the largest primary care conference and exhibition in
the country. Pri-Med Midwest expects 6,000 primary care practitioners and
specialists from across the Midwest -- physicians who are looking for new and
better options in diagnosis, treatment and practice management.
"The CVProfilor(R) DO-2020 System provides physicians with a better way to
identify those patients at risk for cardiovascular disease by providing
information that goes beyond the blood pressure cuff," said Greg H. Guettler,
president of Hypertension Diagnostics, Inc. "Providing physicians with
information regarding large and small artery elasticity indices allows them to
differentiate between patients with prematurely stiffened arteries (a sign of
vascular disease) and those with elevated blood pressure. Since more than
half of the patients who suffer from a heart attack had normal blood pressure
readings, this is an important new parameter to both physicians and patients.
By incorporating the CVProfilor(R) DO-2020 into a physician's practice, we
just may be able to identify those people destined to have a future morbid
event," added Guettler.
The CVProfilor(R) DO-2020 System improves patient care by allowing
physicians to non-invasively detect a premature loss of arterial elasticity in
the microvasculature, by providing new clinical information on the
cardiovascular health of patients, by expanding vascular disease assessment to
include teens and young adults, by monitoring the effects that cardiovascular
drugs have on vascular elasticity, and by establishing a baseline for vascular
disease risk.
Hypertension Diagnostics, Inc. designs, develops, manufactures and markets
proprietary cardiovascular profiling systems for medical applications and
clinical research. These systems are marketed to physicians, other health
care professionals and researchers by a direct sales force and via
distributors throughout the world. In addition to providing blood pressure
values, the systems non-invasively detect subtle changes in the compliance or
elasticity of both large and small arteries which is a unique feature of HDI's
technology.
