TUCSON, Ariz., June 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Raytheon Company
(NYSE: RTN.A, RTN.B) has been awarded a $54 million contract by the United
States Army for foreign military sales of nearly 2,000 TOW 2A and TOW 2B
missiles. The contract covers orders from Europe, the Middle East, Asia and
Latin America. Work on the contract will be performed at Raytheon's Missile
Systems business unit in Tucson and is expected to be complete by November
2001.
"TOW remains the world's missile choice for helicopter-borne and ground-
based long-range defense," said Steve Ignat, Raytheon Missile business
development director for land warfare. The missile has been used in virtually
every major combat operation since its inception. TOW 2A had more than 2,000
confirmed kills during Desert Storm on targets ranging from main battle tanks,
armored personnel carriers and bunkers to Scud launchers with a better than 95
percent effectiveness, the Army has reported.
