PC EXPO/TECHXNY Attendees Optimistic about IT Purchasing: Good News for Technology Vendors

Although Economic Downturn Has Strained IT Departments

NEW YORK, June 21 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- The majority of the attendees
of PC EXPO/TECHXNY (http://www.techxny.com), which opens its 20th annual event
at New York's Jacob K. Javits Convention Center on Tuesday, June 25th,
reported IT spending would increase or remain the same in nine product
categories. In a survey conducted by Decipher, Incorporated, this year's
pre-registered PC EXPO attendees were asked to anticipate their organization's
technology product budgets.
For each of the following product categories, do you anticipate that
during the next 6 months budgets will increase, remain the same, or be less?

"Security, wireless, business intelligence applications, and storage are
hot right now, and the predictions of increased budgets in these categories
reflects this," said Christina Condos, Show Director of PC EXPO/TECHXNY.
"We're also seeing budget increases for the mainstream IT products: PCs,
network products, Web site development, and peripherals. Clearly this is a
positive indication for technology vendors everywhere, and particularly for
the PC EXPO exhibitors who will have access to these buyers this week."
However, when asked if the economic downturn had negatively impacted their
company, 63% reported that it had. And when asked how the economic downturn
has effected their organization's IT infrastructure and staff, many attendees
report that they had fewer IT staff and were having to work harder, and that
they had deferred capital investments and software development projects.

What effects have the economic downturn had on your company's IT
infrastructure and staff?

We have fewer IT staff 53%

      reduced opportunity
We are increasing our reliance on outsourcing 23%
No effect on our IT infrastructure 9%
     Don't know 5%

"IT workers are having to do more with less," observes Ms. Condos. "The
real story behind these numbers is the work ethic, dedication, and
professionalism that PC EXPO/TECHXNY attendees bring to their jobs. Because
of the strain put on IT departments, PC EXPO attendees will be immensely
relieved as IT budgets begin to increase once the recovery begins."
