ATLANTA, June 21 /PRNewswire/ -- National Law Journal acknowledged
Larry S. Gage of Powell Goldstein LLP's health care practice as one of the
100 Most Influential Lawyers in America. He was the only attorney from an
Atlanta- based law firm and one of a few health care attorneys to be named
to the prestigious list, which was compiled and published for the first
time since 2000.

"We are proud of Larry's many accomplishments and valuable contribution
to the health care and legal communities," said Chairman James J. McAlpin,
Jr. "This new honor further confirms his status as one of the nation's
pre-eminent attorneys in one of our strongest national practices."
In 33 years of practice, Gage has carved out a unique role as an
entrepreneur of public sector health care. He established the National
Association of Public Hospitals in 1981, becoming its first and, thus far,
only president. His government experience includes serving as Deputy
Assistant Secretary for Health Legislation in the U.S. Department of Health
and Human Services and as staff counsel to the U.S. Senate Labor and Human
Resources Committee.
Gage also has launched several other public health organizations,
including the American International Health Alliance, National Public
Health and Hospital Institute, and California Association of Public
Hospitals. He has developed and implemented crucial Medicare and Medicaid
reimbursement reforms, and devised corporate structures to improve the
competitiveness and efficiency of public hospitals.
"We were looking for lawyers who had a national impact in their fields
and beyond, especially over the past five years -- lawyers who have the
power to shape public affairs, launch industries, shake things up and get
things done," stated Michael Moline, associate editor of The National Law
Journal in the June 19 article Profiles in Power, which introduced the list
of 100 Most Influential Lawyers.
Powell Goldstein LLP was established in 1909 and has more than 300
