PITTSBURGH, PA UNITED STATES
Tollgrade Helps Cable Operators Reliably and Profitably Deliver VoIP and
                       Other IP Triple Play Services

    PITTSBURGH, June 21 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Tollgrade Communications,
Inc. (Nasdaq: TLGD), a leading supplier of network service assurance
products for the cable and telecom industries, announced today that the
company will perform live VoIP service assurance demos at Booth #593 at
SCTE Cable-Tec EXPO 2006, being held this week at the Colorado Convention
Center in Denver.

The demonstration includes Cheetah(TM) CMD-P Power Supply Transponders
with embedded, PacketCable(TM)-Interoperable VoIP clients, managed under
the CheetahXD(TM) Broadband Service Assurance Platform. This solution
provides full bi-directional VoIP service quality assessments by
originating test calls within a PacketCable network and analyzing a robust
suite of performance indicators -- such as delay, loss, jitter, and mean
opinion score (MOS). For each test call, near-end results are analyzed
locally on the Cheetah DOCSIS(R)-based transponder while far-end results
are obtained via an RTCP-XR report.
These VoIP service quality assessments best resemble the true
performance of a VoIP call within a PacketCable network by verifying call
signaling (including DQoS) and measuring bi-directional voice quality
within an asymmetrical DOCSIS channel. Competitive offerings provide only a
simple unidirectional RTP loopback test, returning results that are more
representative of the customer's high-speed Internet access experience than
their VoIP service experience.
Tollgrade's Cheetah DOCSIS-based CMD-E IP Test Point and CMD-P Power
Supply Transponders enable cable operators to proactively test the
network's ability to transport premium data and VoIP services from the
headend to the HFC end-of-line. The CMD family of HFC-based test points
allows cable operators to fully measure their customer's VoIP service
experience without requiring expensive or complicated tools to be deployed
within the customer premise.
The CMD Series of DOCSIS-based Transponders have been awarded
PacketCable Release 1.0 "Verified for Interoperability" by CableLabs(R). As
a PacketCable device, CMD transponders that are currently widely deployed
to monitor power supply status and performance within the HFC network, can
now emulate a subscriber's E-MTA. This enables cable operators to "actively
sample" VoIP service performance by verifying both VoIP signaling and call
quality from an HFC-based test point, where most problems reside.
CheetahXD Broadband Service Assurance Platform provides cable operators
with a comprehensive view of the broadband network and services, and offers
a complete status monitoring solution for entire HFC network. It also
provides detailed analysis of IP service quality, including on-demand
testing for VoIP. In conjunction with the CMD Series of DOCSIS-based
Transponders, CheetahXD delivers cable operators an accurate view of their
customer's VoIP service quality through analysis of key performance
indicators such as mean opinion score (MOS), R-factor, jitter, latency and
packet loss.
