Systemax to Supply PC Components For 'Extremetech Presents America's Fastest Geek'

    PORT WASHINGTON, N.Y., June 22 /PRNewswire/ -- Systemax (NYSE: SYX), a
leading manufacturer and distributor of built-to-order PCs, announced today
that it will supply the computer components for the ExtremeTech Presents
America's Fastest Geek competition at PC Expo (TechXNY) at New York's Jacob
K. Javits Convention Center next week.
The challenge is to see who can build the fastest-performing computer from
a table full of Systemax PC components in the least amount of time. Assembled
machines will then log onto Systemax's iMASS(TM) server to verify the newly
built PCs' functionality and configurations. As speed is the integral part of
the contest, participants will know in a matter of minutes if their PCs
function properly because iMASS is as much as 10 times faster than traditional
units and requires no network administration skills.
"Given the contest's focus on building the fastest-performing PC in the
shortest amount of time, it is rather fitting that ExtremeTech chose to team
up with Systemax," said Bob Dooley, Systemax's Senior Vice President of Sales
and Marketing. "Systemax has a strong reputation for quick fulfillment of
made-to-order PCs built with top-performing components. We wish all the
contestants good luck."
The ExtremeTech Presents America's Fastest Geek competition, produced by
Ziff Davis Internet's new site ExtremeTech (http://www.extremetech.com), will
be held on June 26th and 27th at Booth 4322. Contestants will be selected on
a first come, first served basis among interested trade show attendees. The
first 20 participants will receive a $50 coupon toward the purchase of any
Systemax PC or server. Ziff Davis Internet is a subsidiary of Ziff Davis
Media.
There will be five hourly heats, starting at 11:00 a.m., each consisting
of four contestants. If the person with the fastest time on Tuesday is
available again on Wednesday, he or she will then compete at 3:00 p.m. against
Wednesday's fastest winner for the grand prize, a chrome PC custom designed by
ExtremeTech Technology Analyst Loyd Case.
Systemax will be demonstrating its iMASS server, as well as its complete
line of desktop PCs, laptops and related accessories, at Booth 4544.
