Dr. Pearson Will Study Health Care Quality and Effectiveness
WASHINGTON, June 22 /PRNewswire/ -- While on leave from Harvard Medical
School, Dr. Steven Pearson will work with America's Health Insurance Plans
(AHIP) as a Senior Fellow to study technology assessment and appraisal, the
design and use of data registries to assess the long-term effectiveness of
drugs and devices, and mechanisms to advance the adoption of evidence-based
decision making.

Steven Pearson, MD, MSc, FRCP is a general internist and Associate
Professor of Ambulatory Care and Prevention at Harvard Medical School. Dr.
Pearson received his B.A. from Stanford University and his M.D. from the
University of California at San Francisco. He also completed a fellowship
in health services research and received a Masters of Science in Health
Policy and Management from the Harvard School of Public Health.
Pearson's published work includes the book No Margin, No Mission:
Health Care Organizations and the Quest for Ethical Excellence, published
in 2003 by Oxford University Press. Dr. Pearson serves on the management
committee of the International Society for Priority Setting in Health Care.
In 2004, he was awarded an Atlantic Fellowship in Public Policy to pursue
policy analysis at the National Institute for Health and Clinical
Excellence (NICE) in London, England. He returned to the US to serve from
2005-2006 as Special Advisor, Technology and Coverage Policy, at the
Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.
