ST. LOUIS, June 23 /PRNewswire/ -- Mallinckrodt Inc. (NYSE: MKG) has been
granted accreditation from the American Nurses Credentialing Center's (ANCC)
Commission on Accreditation through February 2005 to run continuing education
programs for nurses and respiratory therapists. Mallinckrodt's Respiratory
Group is one of only two ANCC accredited medical device companies to offer
this program. Companies wanting this accreditation must meet several
requirements, including evidence of commitment to the program, site visits,
and recommendation and approvals by ANCC.
As an accredited provider of continuing education, Mallinckrodt's
Department of Continuing Education can award credits to healthcare
professionals who attend courses offered by Mallinckrodt. According to Susan
DiGuilio, manager, Department of Continuing Education, "It is an enormous
value to nurses and respiratory therapists who must earn credits to maintain
their licensure and/or certification."
Mallinckrodt's Respiratory Group first received accreditation from ANCC in
1993, and was commended by the commission for providing and ensuring
high-quality continuing education in nursing.

credentialing is considered a benchmark for nurses for excellence in care and
