Biotechnology Institute Presents BioGENIUS Awards to Budding Scientists

    SAN DIEGO, June 23 /PRNewswire/ -- The Biotechnology Institute will
present the BioGENIUS Awards to nine budding San Diego scientists on Monday,
June 25, at a plenary luncheon during the BIO 2001 International Convention &
Exhibition at the San Diego Convention Center.  The lunch, open only to
conference attendees and registered media, runs from noon to 1:45 p.m.
    A team of judges from San Diego's biotech industry selected the students
based on the their science projects' reflection of a clear understanding of
the future of biotechnology and its importance in our lives.
    The BioGENIUS winners are Q. CeCe Chen, 10th grade; Andrea Nicole Csaszi,
7th grade; Mary David, 8th grade; Reid Katkov, 8th grade; Harish Khandrika,
9th grade; Jeremiah Newcomb, 10th grade; David Arthur Sanford, 10th grade;
Albert Sucyango Villaneuva, 12th grade; and William Taylor Ward, 8th grade.
    The BioGENIUS Awards are co-sponsored by Aventis Pharma and Aventis
Pasteur.
