MADISON, Wis., June 24 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Alliant Energy
Corporation (NYSE: LNT), announced today that the International Chamber of
Commerce's International Court of Arbitration extended its deadline to issue a
decision in the corporation's dispute with Companhia Forca e Luz Cataguazes-
Leopoldina, S. A. (Cataguazes) to September 30, 2005. The decision was
originally expected to be issued by June 30, 2005. The International Court's
Notice of Delay did not state the reason for the extended timeline.

Alliant Energy filed the request for arbitration with the International
Court of Arbitration to resolve the ongoing dispute with its Brazilian
partners. If the arbitral tribunal issues a final decision in favor of Alliant
Energy, enforcement of that award would have to be sought in the Brazilian
courts.
